You can still experience beautiful weather in September but it will be getting colder as the months go by. You’ll want to pack a couple of outfits in case you have warmer weather but mostly warm clothes so you don’t get miserable visiting the area because you’re too cold.
While travelling in October or November, you won’t need to bring summer outfits.

Since the weather can be all over the place, you’ll also want to include insulated items to your packing list for New England in September, October or November.

Fall can be hard to pack lightly. You’ll want to have a jacket in case it’s not too cold but cold enough to need one. You’ll also want to carry a warmer jacket in case it gets really cold. You probably won’t need your winter jacket unless you’re travelling to Maine later in the fall.
Maine is a lot similar to Quebec when it comes to fall weather. Don’t forget to pack your rain jacket. You’ll most likely need it at some point during your time in Maine.
